Austenitic stainless steel. Due to the combination of a number of very favorable properties, this type of stainless steel is widely used. In the annealed state, the material is easily deformable (bending, deep drawing, forcing, etc.). This quality has excellent resistance to corrosion in many oxidizing environments. Due to its toughness, poor heat conduction and high degree of reinforcement, the material is only moderately machinable. Depending on the thickness and the welding process, the quality is easily weldable. Well-known applications are: household appliances, machines in the dairy and food industry, sinks and counter tops. This quality is often double certified as 304L/1.4307, according to this specification the material contains slightly less carbon to prevent intergranular corrosion after welding.
