Various types of fixture clamps
The fixture clamps vary in size, shape and strength depending on their specific use. A common type of clamp is the eccentric cam action clamp, which is often used on a fixture plate. Due to the small size, a very high part density can be achieved. This in turn results in increased productivity.
Another popular variant is the pull-down clamp with knife edge, which, as it were, bites into the material. This type of clamp allows aggressive machining while still achieving high part density.
Fixture clamp materials
Fixture clamps are made from a variety of materials, including tool steel, steel and sometimes brass for lighter applications. The tool steel elements undergo heat treatment, which makes them strong and wear-resistant.
